Board Spotlight: Jennifer Cumberbatch

At iACT, we are so grateful for our Board of Directors! In this Board Spotlight Jennifer Cumberbatch tells us a little more about herself.

Jennifer Cumberbatch, iACT Board Member

Where are you from? How long have you lived in Austin?

I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have lived in Winston-Salem, NC, Kokomo, Indiana, Takoma Park, Maryland, and Washington, DC. Now in Austin for 44 years.

How long have you served on the iACT Board?

About 2 months.

What made you want to serve as an iACT Board Member?

I love the mission statement. I have always been attracted to the Red Bench and interfaith interactions and dialogue, but too busy in other seasons of life to be on the board. I believe I heard the Spirit direct me to say “yes” in this season.

What do you enjoy the most about your role as a Board Member of iACT?

Getting to serve community members. And see our refugee neighbors served.

What’s the most challenging thing about working as a Board Member of iACT?

I am still learning to carefully read the financials. I appreciate the summary.

What’s the most rewarding thing about being a Board Member of iACT?

Getting to know my fellow board members and the communities they represent. And the Passport Program.

Why would you encourage others to support the work?

It’s an opportunity to truly develop an understand of how faith impacts the worldview of our Austin neighbors and how that worldview is expressed in our community for the common good.

Thanks so much for sharing your story with us, Jennifer!
